MEET DICKSON

A.K.A Smiley, and he wears his name PERFECTLY!

He was born deaf & in absolute poverty.

He missed out on years of early childhood intervention, since he was only tested when he was 5 years old.

In our village, there is absolutely no government support, organizations, or support systems for children with disabilities.

Our local schools are not equipped to teach children who are deaf.

So the children simply stay home.

When his siblings and friends were going to school, he would stand at the road and wave goodbye to them.

He would then go back inside and hit his dad crying expressing his desire to go to school.

Last year, at the age of 7, His father brought him to Mundika School for the Deaf. It is the ONLY school catering to his needs, where school fees are far beyond his father’s annual earnings.

He has constantly been sent home for a lack of school fees & when that happens, he just stands at the gate until they let him back in.

Our country manager Kelvine & Boda Boda (motorcycle taxi) driver Owino have been helping Dickson with basic needs, transport and moral support, sharing with him the little that they have.

This kid is a WARRIOR whom we have an abundant amount of LOVE for.

It is now TIME FOR HIM TO JOIN OUR HESHIMA FAMILY.
