Meet us every Saturday Under The Mango, a free learning space where 80 young minds ripen.
You’ll find tiny humans in grades 1,2 and 3 who have special learning needs. You’ll find their passionate and skilled teachers diving into their minds to depict lessons in ways they’ll understand.
You’ll find a basket of Fresh picked bananas to feed their bellies. You’ll find desks, school supplies and white boards.
You’ll find children with an unapparelled yearn to learn. You’ll feel the breeze, and the love.
Under the Mango tree is a Special Education program designed to equip children with special needs with the support they deserve.
It is the FIRST and ONLY program of its kind!
We're offering a 1:10 teacher-student ratio, an open classroom concept and catering to individual students’ needs - all of which is revolutionary in our village.
It's an outdoor classroom (literally under our mango tree!)
We're bridging the gap and providing children with the tools and confidence they need to excel academically and reach their goals!
why is umt needed?
The reality in our village is this:
Early childhood education is a luxury.
There are no daycares.
Most parents and guardians did not finish primary school.
Students enroll into grade 1 whenever families can afford it.
When they finally get to school, they have no tools in their toolkit.
There is 1 teacher per 70+ students in 1 classroom!
There are no special education technicians or consultants.
Children with learning disabilities and high academic needs sit at the back of the class.
When school fees run out, they will be the first children of the family to have to drop out.
We’re changing this status quo.
We’re equipping children to re-write the script of their lives.
